Independence Day

dscf0005.jpg
Dieciocho de Septiember (18 Sept) is Chile’s independence day. This is my first year here celebrating the national day with the Chileans and we had a CG fiesta on Saturday with chilean food, cueca (national dance) , praise & worship, games and sharing. I introduced them the world of “card games”… it felt alittle like a gambling den in the beginning with the table and poker cards 😛   We played heart attack and piggy… PS said that I m very violent when it comes to playing games cos I m quite competitive when it comes to games …heheee…I missed bridge, dia dee and hearts !!

Introducing the Chilean’s national pastry… empanadas… This is the “must have” for their national day celebrations… Its like our “ba gua” for CNY. There are different types of empanadas.. some with cheese and some with meat & onions.. its delicious especially when its steaming hot…

Another “must have”, anticuchos (a stick with beef, onions, green pepper).. its their tradition to barbeque for their national day celebration. Vine with barbeque meat… yummy

I went to the “Fantasy Land” with my contact, her mom and her 3 nieces yesterday! It was a lot of fun… too bad i didnt have a camera… I thought that it was much more exciting and fun than Ocean Park. The rides were all quite scary… Shirls, if you are reading this, we should go again when you come to Santiago…

I got to practice Spanish alot with them. They are all very nice people and they treated me like one of their family members. However I still struggled in understanding them, even the kids… half the time I dun know what they were saying but I have improved! I could understand more and speak more, neccesito practica mas! They were super on when it comes to the ride. We walked for almost 5 hours non stop, moving and queuing from rides to rides. We tried almost all the rides except 1 super scary ride… I’ve learnt a few spiritual lessons just being with her and her nieces…

This morning, the Lord spoke to me about being child-like that only the children can enter the KOG… I saw the sheer enthusiaism of the kids when I was with them. There is this sense of complete trust, they just took our words as it is and there is this pure joy ,peace & trust in them… I was reminded of my first love for God, having the sense of wonder in what He is doing and just simply taking His word as it is… Have I somehow grown  too “sophisticated” for God,  that now it takes alot more to “wow” me? I want to have this “naivety” in God, never losing the sense of awe and trusting in Him completely. If God says it, I believe it and that settles it!
