Pictures and Updates

In just 2 weeks, we had 350 university contacts. Praise God! Many of them came them for the placement tests and we are hoping that we can start our lessons soon! It’s really exciting but it’s a lot of hard work. We went down to the university almost daily and you got to be really “thick skin” to approach the students. It was fun and rewarding nevertheless. It helped me to brush up my spanish too. I have memorised one paragraph of speech in Spanish and I am getting good in this. I can recite this paragraph flawlessly but after that … heheee… (Keeping my fingers cross that they dont ask me too chim questions..hehee)

I was collating the pictures for the powerpoint for the district mission’s night… here are some of them 🙂

The long awaited parcel has finally arrived! Thanks Shirls and gang for sending me!

My mom gave me a pack of ba gua with a card, titled “what is a wonderful daughter?” The poem ended with “what is a wonderful daughter? She is someone exactly like you”… Aww….I’m not sure if they know what it means cos its in English. But when I read the content, I teared. Oh man… I missed my parents…

And from my lovely CG members, they gave me a book, a comb?? (I’ve no idea why its here), cleaning gloves!!, some seasoning and IPOH coffee (my favourite)!!! Aww… thanks so much for remembering me… plus all the cards… you have no idea how much it touches me… heheee…

Thanks Shirls, Dennis, Daniel, Gideon, Dewen, Shar, Shuz, Zinc, Gwen, Jency,Ting, Ruth, Christine, DK, BK!

Last week was a packed week of “markerting”. We went down to a few universities to distribute flyers and to know the students. We are starting new English and Chinese classes in 2 weeks time thus we need to  do some heavy publicity on our courses.

Last Friday, we went down to one of the top universities in Santiago. It just happened that the time that we went was the break time of all the medical students. I tell you… many of the guys are “drop-dead” handsome…tall, handsome and intelligent… I hope they come for our courses… pray for us yar? Heehee…

Pray with us that by end of this month, we can

  • stabilise 10 people (We want to see not just believers but disciples of Christ)
  • have 10 english & mandarin classes (We need to have a big pool of contacts. Pray for successful publicity in the universities)
  • secure a new house, with less than 10 mins walk from the metro station. (Our current place is too small. We need an accessible house with a big living room at an affordable price)

Thanks for praying!

It snowed!

While I was bathing last night, I heard some commotion outside. Then Cindy knocked on my door and said “It’s snowing! We are going out to see the snow!”  It snowed last night!! It has not snowed in Santiago since 20 years ago. We were like kids, hurrying to put on our gears, so excited to go out to see the snow… We went out to the car park and indeed it was snowing.. and freezing! The grass and cars were clothed with snow… it was beautiful =) I felt like some “sua goo”, taking pictures in the carpark, “wooing” and “wowing” :p

And last week passed like a breeze. You can read on the happenings last week on  Ps Ben’s blog . (Too lazy to blog on it..hehee) It was awesome having Ps Ben with us. I was once again refreshed and strengthened.

I went down with Pui See to one of the universities yesterday. It reminded me of the high school pioneering days whereby we will go down to the schools almost everyday to do surveys and to know the people. At the university, we approached the students, introduced ourselves and asked if they were interested in learning English or Mandarin. I approached the first group of students myself while PuiSee was preparing the flyers. But it was kinda hard for me to communicate with them. I could only ask the opening questions and when they started to speak, I couldnt understand them. I went with Pui See to talk to the students and occassionally when I could find pple who can speak English, I would talk to them.  At the end of the day, we had 37 contacts and most of them are really responsive. Out of which, there is a professor who is very keen to learn English with us. In fact, he came back to talk to us 2 times! God really blessed and opened doors for us.

Pui See shared with me how they would go down to the key universities relentlessly in the earlier pioneering days and I really salute them for their die hard spirit. She said that this was how she improved her spanish. Just whack! Just talk! Anyway, I really love doing this. Its not comfortable but essential. When we see the people, we will have a better knowledge on the ground and a greater compassion for them.  It’s exciting!!
